Split Decisions

Monday May 17th, 2010 - Chicago, IL

Had dinner in Chicago with my grade school friend Tom Orlando and his nephew Alex, who thinks I’m one of the funniest humans alive. Tom has been wanting to bring Alex to meet me for a while now, and tonight was the night. I’m glad we were able to hook it up.

Tom is one of my all time favorite people. He’s truly Funny and always was, even in our school days. He was in broadcasting and did quite well for himself,... Read More

The B.S. Of Booking

Thursday May 13th, 2010 - Lake Villa, IL

I received a phone call from a comedian friend today complaining of an all too familiar scenario. He had what he thought was a solid booking for this weekend, but he received a call from the booker telling him it was a no go. No reason given, and no replacement gig.

I can’t begin to count how many times I’ve had this happen myself, and it’s maddening. I sympathized with my friend, but he started to go on an... Read More

Cranberry Stomping

Saturday March 6th, 2010 - Cranberry, PA

Totally different vibe onstage tonight. Wow! THIS is the reason I started doing comedy, only dreaming someday I’d be having shows like this. Now I am, and I’m going to take it all in and enjoy every last tiny morsel. No matter what else happens, I’ve lived my dream.

Maybe that initial dream was a little fuzzy, and maybe I was more than a little naïve. Or both. I guess I just assumed that having great shows... Read More

Needy For A CD

Friday March 5th, 2010 - Cranberry, PA

Boy, am I out of road shape. I’m embarrassed. I used to be able to get up at 3 or 4 in the morning and drive for twelve hours or more, then go on stage without a nap. After that I’d still be able to stay up and hang with the comics afterward. I’m afraid those days are over.

I accepted a last minute fallout this weekend in the Pittsburgh area at the Funny Bone in Cranberry. I’ve been here before and it’s a... Read More

Last Minute Cancellations

Monday January 11th, 2010 - Chicago, IL

One of the worst situations to deal with as an entertainer is the last minute cancellation. It happens to all of us, and it’s an absolute killer. Besides having a check bounce, I’d have to say it’s a close second on the list of least favorite things. Still, it’s a sad reality of life.

Outsiders have no clue how we go about getting bookings. I get asked all the time about it and most people assume we... Read More
